Do the words 鈥渓ow-carb鈥 and 鈥渇at-free鈥 have you wishing for simpler times and less complicated meal preparations? This diet from the 1950鈥檚 cuts down on more than just carbs. Instead of avoiding certain foods, eliminate the utensils.

鈥淐ut down on your silverware, and you鈥檒l cut down on your weight,鈥 promised Woman鈥檚 Day magazine in 1952.

Breakfast

Eat a fairly substantial breakfast, but set your place without a knife, so you can鈥檛 spread butter or jam on your toast.
