Growing Aloe Vera Plants: Watering, Lighting, Repotting, Use, and More!

My aloe plant just produced 2 stunning goons, but they seem to be willted even before fully blooming. Should I water more?
How is the rest of the plant doing? If it seems healthy, and there is no evidence of pests or disease, then it could possibly be that the plant needs a little more light (4 to 6 hours of bright, indirect light), or the temperature may not be ideal. If you adjust the water, make sure that you follow the guidelines above and do not overwater. (See the above article for light, water, and temperature recommendations.) Has your aloe blossomed before? If not, keep in mind that there are different flower types in aloes, depending on the species. Some have very compact groups of individual tubular flowers that all point downward (the lower ones on the raceme usually maturing first) and other species have a more open, loose flowering habit; in some types, the individual flowers are more upright. Hope this helps!
My aloe vera had pups a couple of years ago and then after a while it stopped having pups.
I just wanna know whether there is an age limit to have pups in aloe Vera?
Hi Haze,
Thanks for the question.
As an aloe plant ages, it may need more time to produce pups or can stop producing them altogether. But there are other factors to consider before giving up on your aloe plant producing pups.
It might be time to change the pot and soil it is in. Repotting every few years gives it slightly more space and freshens up the soil that can become depleted. When deciding on a new pot, choose one that is only slightly larger than the root system as too much space will cause your plant to believe there is no competition and no need to produce pups for its survival. Since aloe roots grow shallow and horizontal, choose a pot that is wide, but not very deep. This prevents from having unused soil at the bottom that will allow water to collect. It also needs at least one drainage hole at the bottom to allow excess water to drain out. Using the proper soil is key (see tips above).
Make sure it is getting the right amount of light, lives in the proper temperature range, and that you are not watering it too much. Fungal issues can also lead to your plant not producing pups.
Your article is very interesting but it did not cover the point I am wanting, which is after flowering do I cut off the stem or leave it to die please?
My plant after may years produced a bud in early December and has just finished flowering. Thank You
Once the flower is 鈥渄one,鈥 you can cut off the flower stem.
Thank youy
I鈥檝e had an aloe for four years, I don鈥檛 remember the last time I actually watered it, several months at least. In the window it got burnt, so I moved it to shady corner of the bathroom and it鈥檚 been content. Sure it hasn鈥檛 grown much, but is very much alive.

Great post! Anyone interested in improving their oral health should definitely look into prodentim. Its a natural candy supplement that contains healthy bacteria that most people are missing out on from things like bad diet, smoking, not brushing enough etc. Heres a great review:
