I got a year old or so Maine Coon cat years ago. "Fluffy" lived 18 years before I had to put her down just before getting married 56 years ago. She went outside and hid in the woods during a hurricane and emerged when it was over. I was so relieved. She was the sibling I never had. Very loving and friendly. Wishing you the best with yours.
