Hi, I used to make clove oranges when my family were younger and I was a childminder. It was a great project to keep them all amused. The secret is in the fixing agent. It stops them going mouldy. Also if the skin is very thin you end up with them too wet or damp which can cause the mould too. I used orris root powder but noticed it is possible to use other powders as well. Go for decent thickness in the skin avoiding piercing right through.
