You can also hold a 1/4 of a piece of bread in your mouth while you cut onions. Gently hold the bread against the roof of your mouth with your tongue, (don't chew it) keep your mouth closed and breath through your nose until you are done cutting the onions and have washed your hands. If the bread gets too moist, chew it up, swallow, and replace it with a fresh piece of bread. ALWAYS breath through your nose, even when replacing the bread. I know it sounds like the opposite of what you should do, but preventing the vapors of the onions juices from interacting with the roof of your mouth and the back of your throat where your sinus cavity begins it the KEY to prevent any type of onion from irritating/activating your tear tucks and sinuses from automatically switching into flush mode. 😉
