Hardware - small spinners - mepps
Seasonal flies - caddis
It's generally windy when fishing high (10,000ft+) mountain lakes. To catch some nice size cutthroats try fishing the other side of the lake where the wind is blowing toward or against you. The lake's water is being heavily churned when windy and so are the nutrients that trout feed on.
Yeah, I know, it's difficult to cast against the wind and I suggest using hardware to cast further out. Be patient and you'll be rewarded with decent size trout.
Anywhere the water is churning the nutrients is a great place to fish e.g., an underwater pipe feeding into a lake provides excellent fishing opportunities or a small spillway feeding into a lake where trout are teeming with life are great spots, too.

Good luck.
