I'm getting very confused as several websites just said we can eat the young stalks and leaves. I just finished reading another website from a university that the person lectures at that said not to eat any part of the plant because it has a horrible chemical that started with a P that's very harmful to humans and animals. When I was trying to learn how to plant them a website said 8" apart and now they're all saying 18" - 20" so I searched what to do with young mammoth Sunflower plants (if I can eat them I'd rather not waste the time I put into them but I'm scared to now).
