Do you mean the corn flea beetle? These pests attack corn seedlings in May and June. They can transmit bacterial wilt. Damage is usually minimal, but they cause many tiny holes in leaves, and tiny bleached lines or circles. Japanese beetles, on the other hand, are much larger, metallic blue-green beetles that emerge around June and July; they can skeletonize leaves of many plants, leaving almost nothing except the leaf veins; on corn, they may nibble on corn silk and tassels.
