This weed killer is NOT safe if you breath in the vapor or touch plants wet with spray. However, once it’s dry, it binds to the soil or leaf, and it does not vaporize after it is sprayed. For example, it’s approved for pastures so horses can graze after it’s dry. Long-term feeding studies in animals were assessed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other regulatory authorities. Based on these evaluations, they found there is no evidence glyphosate is toxic to the nervous or immune systems. They also found it is not a developmental or reproductive toxin.
All that said, the word 鈥渟afe鈥 is used in the context of toxicity levels. And not everyone agrees. Bottom-line, this is a chemical product. If you’re concerned or not comfortable, use a natural weed killer. See our article on 5 homemade pesticides that work.
