I leave several thick stands of tall organic catnip on my property not just for the cats but for the finches. The gold finches love the seed. In the fall as it dries out the finches come in to feed and a large stand about 4x4 and fully grown will support 20 or more finches at a time. They will feed until the stand is empty of seed. Second, I despise Creeping Charlie but I have tolerated it because it is one of the early plants that the bees use. I decided a long time ago that rather than have a heavily manicured chemical drenched yard, I would have one that I could safely share with nature as much as the ordinances will allow.
