I have a gigantic forsythia on my property I moved to a year and a half ago. I didn't want to touch any of my trees and shrubs until I could see how they all "performed" if you will, throughout the year. After reading this (and others here) it seems I need to wait until this year's blooms are finished. My question is, what if I go ahead and prune it now, in winter? This bush is a gigantic beast and eyesore. It also has these large clumps or clusters of buds approx. two inches indiameter, but they don't bloom. I would like to be able to cut it back now, as I can clearly see how massive it is. After it blooms, it will be next to impossible to prune. Thoughts/ Comments are extremely appreciated.
