With migraines, if you can start taking pain medications preemptively, when you start experiencing auras, you can sometimes prevent the migraine completely or at least make it much more bearable (not vomit). I've had migraines for decades, and it is so helpful to note symptoms you have prior to the headache. I'm usually grouchier and crave carbs a day or so before I have a migraine and then see "sparkles" a few hours before. If I can notice this and take medication ahead of time, it really does make a difference in the severity of the headache.
