I underwent surgery for my debilitating tmj issues in 1991. Seems like yesterday, though would not wish this pain on anyone. Mine progressed quickly and was just on right side. I was 28 at the time. I remember not being able to even brush my teeth, and I also carried tylenol with me 24/7. Seemingly doc commented I was one of his youngest patients ever at that time. He assumed that I had fallen or been in a car accident, neither were true. I have not had any more problems since except occasional popping that comes and goes. I also remember during my pre-op visit prior to this surgery, a benign heart murmur was diagnosed. There is a wonderful institute in Texas that I still receive newsletters from on TMJ. I wish good healing to all who may be experiencing tmj.
