I thought of this but got scared lol. I have a lot of tropical plants....it'll be ok for them?
I found dropping a cellar spider in amongst the plants worked well with little effort. The sight of the dead and drained flies under the web satisfying.
What’s a “cellar spider”
The indoor version of the harvestman. Small body, long fine legs. Messy web. If you get near them they shake about. Not confined to cellars!
Daddy long legs

I’ve tried hydrogen peroxide, waste of time I’ve tried cinnamon, potatoes and a few other things I’ve found online. The only that worked was a combination of mosquito bit tea and yellow sticky traps
Tried all.
Went on Amazon and bought an indoor bug zapper. I bought a plant, put on top of frig. 3 days later, I had 300-500 gnats! I keep hearing Zap! At first, I had to go around my apartment up and down the walls with the zapper to kill the infestation. It works!

As someone else said Hydrogen Peroxide 3% 1 part to 3 or 4 parts water then water when soil is dry will kill them, however if you have a lot of plants like me 45 is too expensive and they jump from plant to plant. If you only have 2 or 3 that should get rid of them.
I'm trying this right now! I've had fungus knats flying around my apartment and I noticed they are mostly on one plant.
I'm setting them all outside to dry out and spraying the dirt with various things
