Tanglefoot on white or yellow glossy cardboard will trap any insect.
A mix of 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 4 parts water will kill fungus gnat larvae. Allow soil to dry then water with the solution. Hydrogen peroxide promotes better root growth due to an extra molecule of oxygen and it can kill harmful bacteria and fungal growth. Misting will kill the gnats.
use 1/4 cup 3% hydrogen peroxide to 1 cup water, and water normally. this will kill fungus and gnats on contact.
I have covered the entire pot with masking tape, all soil covered. In the hope they will stick to the tape and are unable to escape I'm leaving foe three weeks (quite normal) in the hope it will kill off adults and new hatchers
Many years ago when " My Big Fat Greek Wedding" was new, i used Windex to kill scale on my aloe. I used it again on the soil when my plants got fungus gnats. It works. Spray the soil & any bugs who are disturbed every couple of days. The movie was right- it works for everything!!
I鈥檇 love to know if it worked! I don鈥檛 know if Vaseline will kill those dang fungus.knats. That was the magic for my family. Like the winded for 鈥渕y big fat wedding. Love that movie
I'm assuming Vaseline works for a many things because of the eucalyptus oil... I'm still learning though so I don't know a lot!
This is a terrible article. Sticky paper? Really? Apple cider vinegar? Really? I was hoping for something a lot more insightful coming from Farmers 蜜桃恋人, but you gave me sticky paper.
How about this鈥 For fungus gnat prevention, cover your topsoil with sand, or small pebbles. This prevents the adults from being able to burrow into the organic soil to lay their stupid eggs. Boom! Problem solved!
I鈥檝e also heard that pepper sprinkled on the topsoil works, but I can鈥檛 verify that. I鈥檝e tried it, but without knowing how much or how often, I鈥檓 not sure I did it right.
Now鈥 my problem is that the gnats have infested the soil I blended for my succulents. I thought it would be safe due to the high ratio of sand that went into it. Unfortunately, it was not. Fungus gnats have infested my flat of baby succulents & I need to know how to get rid of them.
This article was a lot less than I expected. Disappointed.
If you read the info given, it clearly mentions sand on top of the soil, which does not always work...Boom! Problem not solved.
There is no single fix usually. Yellow sticky paper works great when used properly (they are attracted to the color yellow) same with the other traps.
Strange you started with a "Boom! Problem solved!" Then went on to how said problem was not solved. You're comment was a lot less than I expected. Disappointed.
Right on Marcus! I thought the same thing about Dorian's comment. 馃ぃ
