I had mice which required traps to kill until the "Shophouse" people came out - rich people who bought land to visit on the weekends and built shops that were actually houses.
They changed the natural balance by dumping feral cats to protect their campers and Shop-houses (Shophouses) and opened pathways for coyote.
Now what I loved is gone.
I took 3 of the multiple feral cats I could trap (2 others were target practice and 1 coyote feed) and 5 kittens I domesticated myself to be fixed and adopted at a Humane Society in Columbia, MO (thank you Columbia (Mizzou) for your help.
I am not their county and they did the work for low prices none-the-less. They won't continue to do that.
The ferals and coyote have demolished: blue heron who mated here, the strange ducks (long-legged and neck who hooted, wood ducks, and more), and most of the birds I fed with feeders because their habitat is being destroyed. There are tails of squirrel, wings of all birds, and the constant screaming of mammals being killed by coyote. The deer are not excepted. Coyote eat them from the butt in.
I'm not against nature in it's natural state. This is not it's natural state.
Please try to promote the existence of our native species ratio. I can't. I'm not "that" rich person. Just someone who learned to love what was here.

Our problem here in a forested rural area is seasonal鈥.GROUND (not tree) SQUIRRELS! They are notorious for digging holes and trying to get into vents thru crawl space. We use live traps and remove the critter to another area. If a raccoon or tree squirrel get caught, they are immediately released. We are careful..ya just never know about wildlife.
Bugs in log cabins: spray the logs with Citronella Oil; LemonOil; or Tea Tree Oil;
How to Deter Squirrels; Chipmunks; Plant an Oak or Beech Tree in the fartherst end of your property; squirrels and chipmunks will make their homes around the tree; not your house!
I live in a log home and have been inundated with stink bugs, lady bugs, and elder tree bugs for months. They are everywhere, inside and outside (but mostly inside). I think they come out of hibernation in the woodwork and multiply. What can I do? Thanks.
I keep an army (6 spayed/neutered) 0f feral cats around my property. I have had invasions of insects, over the years, but no rodents of any kind. As I live in the woods I know my army of cats is a good idea.
I don't want to kill anything so I bought a T3R from Amazon. It emits a high pitched sound that small animals cannot tolerate. I had a raccoon in my attic that caused extensive damage to my air ducts and as soon as I put that emitter in the attic it left and sometimes I will hear something up there but it always goes away. I use it for mice in the rest of the house as well. It works perfectly, is safe and humane.
We used something similar to T3R you describe for squirrels in the attic. I think it worked but unfortunately they have to bore a hole in the cornice before they hear the device. As per looking for how rats, etc. get in the house, that is unrealistic. Rats and other rodents have big teeth and can easily bore holes to get in anything wood. I have been on the receiving end of this plenty of times. We paid $5000.00 to have our house cornice repaired after squirrels tore many holes in it. We tried everything to trap them in Hav-a-heart traps, etc. and none of it worked. Unfortunately the only thing that does work is shooting them. Hate to do that but will not have any rodents invading my house. An exterminator probably also kills them one way or the other. My widow neighbors use exterminators and exterminators don't have any good solution. They are calling them over and over again.
