I've tried bait stations in the past they they ignore them over time. Best thing I ever did was use a mix of baking soda and corn muffin mix 50/50 with a drizzle of honey on a paperplate put under a patio table or lawn chair and this takes care of a large population for an inexpensive cost and is safe for hawk/owls/fox to consume them. Rodents can't pass gas, baking soda causes the gas. They die just like if poisoned only safer for all. I've moved up to clear plastic containers with a hole cut out with the mixture put inside. Thats my bait trap. Safe and effective. I live in the woods with a brook nearby so this is a never ending battle but can be maintained inexpensively with this mixture.
