Very good article. Been bit by the tick that fed off mice. Got the Lyme Disease antibiotic treatment. UGH. Have also developed another bacterial problem with full body itching, drew blood sometime itching. The VA docs didn;t know what caused it. Didn't have much blood lab work to find out, that's socialize medicine. After 1-1/2 years the itching has declined somewhat. Due to rodents, the ticks can transmit various problems. As the article relates to, the Middle Ages in Europe the rodents caused the Plague that killed many. Not fun.

I spend winters in AL / FL for many years. Have seen only one mouse in that time. Snakes apparently take care of them. Told some people in VT I'll bring some snakes up. However, the Rattlesnake population in the northern states (VT, NH, ME) is increasing. I've seen a snake grab a mouse for food. The motion was so fast, you couldn't see it being grabbed, the moue was in it's mouth. Cotton Mouth snake movements are also that fast.

Rutland VT area has a "Rattlesnake Mountain", and I know other areas were they are.
