I used to have a sizeable 'Crown of Thorns' plant in front of my living room window. It was covered with small, red trumpet shaped flowers. One day I was sitting by the window when I noticed a female ruby throat fly up to the window and hover there, staring at those blooms. Cutest thing I'd ever seen, or so I thought. After about ten or fifteen seconds she flew off, only to return seconds later with a second hummer! It wasn't a male as there was no red throat, so I don't know if it was a female friend or her chick. The two of them stared into the window for a while and then flew away. Feeling blessed by the sight, but guilty that I had frustrated these two little beauties I immediately cooked up a batch of nectar for them and while it cooled, ran out to buy a feeder.
