Homemade Toilet Bowl Cleaner

Cleaning Fiberglass Tubs and Showers

  1. Make a paste of baking soda and water.
  2. Wet the surface of the tub or shower stall; gently rub with the paste on a sponge or soft nylon brush.
  3. Rinse thoroughly. Never use an abrasive cleaner (such as common scouring powder), any abrasive scouring pad, steel wool, or a scraper.

Cleaning Bathroom Tile and Tubs

  • Sprinkle baking soda in place of scouring powder in your tub or on the tiles. Rub with a damp sponge. Rinse thoroughly.
  • To remove film buildup on bathtubs, apply full-strength white vinegar to a sponge and wipe the area. Next, use baking soda as you would scouring powder. Rub with a damp sponge and rinse thoroughly.
  • Vinegar removes most dirt without scrubbing and doesn’t leave a film. Use 1/4 cup (or more) vinegar to 1 gallon water.
  • To clean grout, put 3 cups baking soda into a medium-size bowl and add 1 cup warm water. Mix into a smooth paste and scrub into grout with a sponge or toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly and dispose of leftover paste when finished.

Hello, Some of the more popular cleaners have a strong odor that can irritate your eyes, lungs and so on. I have to use a respirator if I'm using such a popular product and have to remain close.

Cream of Tartar works well for removing rust stains just sprinkle some, add a little water and scrub with a sponge.

I use vinegar with hot water, This help to kill mold and mildews and remove bad odor as well. You can use the same for cleaning the bathtubs as well.

Borax is great for a lot of stuff. If you have a flea infestation, sprinkle it on your rugs before you leave in the morning, vacuum it up when you get home at night and do it again the next day. WAY better than those poisonous and awful smelling sprays. Use it along with baking soda!

GREAT tips - thanks so much for sharing these. Personally, I've been using a Grout cleaner I picked up at home depot, called Aqua Mix by Custom - still, I'll try the baking soda suggestion as you stated too - but I don't know if it can work better than what i'm already using LOL

Borax is better and makes the surface shine like new, I use with a plastic brush or scrubber.
