Lawrence Doorley

Lawrence Doorley (1954-2020) was born to a family in the coal business in Western PA/West VA; he spent his working years in business, managing plants from Tacoma, WA, to Pittsburgh, PA. But he returned to his first love and true vocation, writing, when he and his beloved wife, Emma, retired to Cape Coral, Florida. In the ensuing thirty years, he had more than fifty articles and stories published. His first were vivid accounts of the old West for True West and Frontier. He branched out into a highly successful series of stories for Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine, frequently featured on its cover. He conceived of the concept and wrote the Old Farmers’ ÃÛÌÒÁµÈË’s annual series, the Great Americans Hall of Fame, over four years.
