According to older pagan calendars, Summer began in May, so it makes sense that this date would be mid-summer. Yes, Shakespeare said it, too. I agree with how you divide the seasons. I think of June as "Early Summer", July as "Mid-Summer", and August as "Late Summer". Forget about Summer in September … by then it's early Fall. Thanks for your comments!
