Use baking soda in the cat box after each cleaning. I use unscented clay, non clumping litter and scoop when needed for several cats. I will sprinkle soda on the bottom where the urine settled and on top. Most cats don't have a problem with it. This combo is a lot cheaper than the fancy ones with clumping, fragrances, etc and a lot healthier for everyone. I use two small rubbermaid totes that keeps most of the litter inside and does not hold smells. The regular cat boxes are too small for the oldest (15#) cat...lol BTW..it is not recommended to use baking soda for toothpaste all the time. It alters your body's chemistry and is too harsh for the enamel on the teeth.
