Here in Ohio there is a repopulation effort taking place (I've read), because they've become nearly extinct in the state. I grew up seeing them a lot (were called Sparrow Hawks), then for years of hardly seeing them until about three years ago, and now I see them regularly on the utility lines in my area. So the effort is paying off.
