We usually have a bit of trouble with okra, but this year, the crop is really good. There is a "mess" every day. I love okra. It is Nature's little laxative!
Have you noticed that the leaves of the okra plant follow the sun in its paths across the sky each day? This is a phenomenon call heliotropism or phototropism. Some plants do this; the most well-known of which is the daylily, whose flowers last only one day.
P.S. NEVER cut okra into pieces to cook it. Always cook it whole, with the stem still attached. It will not release its mucous nearly as much that way. NEVER NEVER put tomato or vinegar in the pot with okra. Spoils it.
