I currently live in Traverse City, MI population just over 14,000. The yearly average snowfall here hovers between 125-140鈥 per year. However, when I was growing up in the 1970鈥檚 - 1980鈥檚 there was a lot more snow average around 160-170鈥. Back then the snow stuck around and we didn鈥檛 have warm ups - or any sun! Lots of 1-2 hour snow delays for school. My parents worked in local schools and this was in the day of the tree phone list so we knew about snow days by 5:30 am. That鈥檚 when fun began with ice skating on small inland lakes and lots of sledding.
