I have 51 house plants, and every one of them have pebbles covering every bit of soil and I still have gnats. They just crawl out from under rocks and start their party. I've tried 3 different types of the yellow stick paper, Neeum Oil, sand on top of the soil, and I've even completely replanted them, (lost 3 in the process); washed the pots out. rinsed the roots and replanted them. They come back though. Those little ^$%%&$.

I have a lot of tropical plants and with the humidity they need I doubt I'll ever get rid of them. I, too, was hoping I'd get some other answers in this article. :(
