I developed that night twitching in my legs. 8 had never heard if this before even as a hospital nurse. I kep telling doctors about my symptoms. It too 4 doctors and 3 months of no sleep before a doctor did labs and found I was anemic with hgb 7.0; and low iron. And my plans were abnormal, CBC AND CMP. GFR was very low and heart/ muscle li abs were abnormal. I had bronchitis in Jan and again in March when this dr dud the labs. ( GOING INTO CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE) This was Mar of 2015.
Started taking iron and when ferritin got up some, the RLS went away. Dr had me come in for daily resp treatment and EKG. He saved my life.

I still have GI bleed and hgb drops. But I'm getting monthly ferritin infusion now. GI dr cant seem to find the source of bleeding. I have hiatal hernia and Barretts lesion. Lots of dr appt the last 4 years but my situation is not cured. When my blood count drops the RLS returns.
I am stable right now so doing carafate and watching blood count. If it drops again, the dr may send me for hiatal hernia repair and treat the Barrets.
Low oxygen getting to body parts may create the RLS.
