How often should you cut off the grown pups?
You can prune them as you like. If there are many pups and the mother plant start to look unhealthy, then consider at least removing the older ones.
for some reason my spider plant will go a dull almost pale green. what am i doing wrong? how do i correct this?
Faded leaves can be a sign of a few things—usually a deficiency of some sort. Essentially, the plant is not producing enough chlorophyll, which is what makes leaves green. Often, this is caused by a lack of light or a lack of nutrients. Try fertilizing the plant or repotting it with fresh soil and see if that makes a difference!
These are great plants, so easy. One was given to me by a co-worker several years ago. I have so many now (they do make a great little housewarming gift) I think I'll try planting some outside in the ground and see if I can't figure some kind of vertical placement. Thank you for the article, very informative, and confirming what I thought I knew about these great little plants.
I've had a scrap of spider plant living in water for about five years now. It grows very slowly (just barely replaces leaves that age out), but seems perfectly happy.
We've had ours for about 25 years. Indoor plant food is a help, especially when they are inside. Thanks for the tips!
Graham, Tahiti is a French Polynesian island in the middle of the Pacific ocean. Hope this helps and enjoy your anniversary!
Mr Dutch, I was just wondering were is Tahiti, the reason I am asking as me and my wife are looking for a lovely holiday destination for our wedding anniversary, please get back in touch as soon as possible. Thanks.
Not really a fan of spiders, but this plant is fantastic. I just need one more and then I will be done. Does anyone know how long I can leave my plant without it being watered? I am going on holiday to Tahiti for 1 week.
