Planting, Growing, and Caring for Hyacinths

Ok, not quite a bottle, but you know that spring is not far away when the forced bulbs show up in stores. They are lovely鈥攁nd you should enjoy it. Give it balanced (not strong light) keep the water to the lower middle of the bulb until after it blooms (add no more water then), and let the foliage fade away. There is no guarantee that it will bloom again, but you can cut off the dead foliage and plant the bulb about 6 inches deep and see what, if anything, happens next spring. BTW, if you do not live in an area that experiences winter, nothing will happen; hyacinths need a cold spell to bloom. So it’s best to enjoy it now…and buy a new plant when it passes.
I also bought a bulb in a vase of water that looks as if it is beginning to flower. My question is when do I plant in a pot or outside. What type of potting soil do I use for an inside plant?
Leave it in the vase. I got one in a vase of water it has bloomed should I replant it in a pot? And can it stay inside?
You need not bother putting it in a pot. if you do not live in an area that experiences winter, nothing will happen; hyacinths need a cold spell to bloom. However, if you put a pot outside, you have to worry about keeping it from freezing, providing enough moisture…it’s all too unpredictable and high maintenance. If you want hyacinths outside, buy and plant bulbs. Forced bulbs such as you have are meant to bloom once. So it’s best to enjoy it now…and buy a new plant when it passes.
I recently bought a growing hyacinth bulb that has 4-5 inch roots established in a vase full of water. I was wondering if I should plant it in soil or allow it to blossom in the vase?
The vase itself is about 7 inches tall and 75% full of water, the bulb is sitting at the top of a narrow opening with the 4-5 inch roots immersed in the water at all times.
The directions that it came with said to keep it in a cool but well-lit room. I'm just not certain that it will continue to stay healthy growing in water 24/7. Thanks in advance!
some of us must of gotten one of these from walmart ...i bought one today lol
I have the same exact question! So I hope someone on here knows the answer! My flower is blooming and keeps falling over.
I bought an already sprouted hyacinth bulb for my house. Do I have to replant it office, or is there a way to keep it how it is. I love it and it smells amazing
