if we apply high dose of potassium to cauliflower, the curd diameter is increase or not?
Good question, not an easy answer. We have no information that indicates a larger curd/head; however, potassium鈥攁nd nitrogen and phosphorus鈥攁re important nutrients for the plant’s success. I have harvested a couple of my cauliflower heads so far and all is going great with them. Though I was wondering and am a little confused as what I am to do with the plant after I have cut off the cauliflower head? If I pull the plant will the other plants do better?
Please will someone answer us! I too want to know what to do with the remaining plant after you have harvested the cauliflower. Do you throw it away, do you cut it down to the dirt, do you pull the roots up also? What do we do?
My cauliflower has a fuzzy look and feel is this now bad? And what can I do to prevent the other heads from getting this?
Planted my cauliflower about 56 days ago. I am noticing little black seeds on the white heads (look like poppy seeds). They are easily rinsed off when watering, but will reappear the next day. What are these? And, I am about to blanch the heads, should I rinse the "seeds" off with water before tying the leaves together over the heads? or should I just leave them and tie the leaves? Thanks.
If the spots wash off and reappear the next day, it might possibly be frass (caterpillar poop) from larvae, such as cabbage looper or imported cabbage worm. Check the undersides of leaves for the critters, also for small or ragged holes in the leaves.
This site shows a photo of the frass on a cauliflower head; scroll down to "Damage" and click on the photo at the right (Figure 12). It also tells how to control these pests:

can you harvest only once per plant or is it like broccoli?
Cauliflower usually produces only one head per plant. It doesn't have the smaller lateral heads that broccoli does.
