After I steam my 7 eggs in a electric steam machine I just put them in the refrigerator and when I want to crack them one at a time to eat them I put one in the Microwave for just 8 seconds and just roll the egg on the table
I cook 12 eggs at a time in my Instant Pot for 3 minutes, then let them sit in the Instant Pot for 10 minutes before releasing pressure. After I take the eggs out of the pot, I plunge in very cold water (we live in the mountains so the water is very cold) or ice water for 10 to 15 minutes. They peel very easily. Perfect eggs every time!
I gave up boiling eggs almost 20 years ago when I purchased an egg cooker. It steams eggs and they come out perfect every time. Best investment I have ever made. Only down side is that my cooker only holds 7 eggs. But cook time is about 15 minutes. And no pans to deal with.
I now hard cook my eggs in my instant pot, 5 minute cook time. They come out perfect and SO easy to peel!
My sister in law told me this is the best way, so easy and I can鈥檛 thank her enough!
I found that if you add a good sprinkle of baking soda to the water, they peel easy. According to the egg site, you bring to a boil then right away turn the heat down to low and set your timer to 20 minutes. Place partially drained pot under the tap and continue to fill and drain a few times to cool them down enough to handle and start peeling. The yolks wont turn green, but stay bright yellow. I only use mayonaise (Kraft), regular mustard, a good pour of cider vinegar , salt and pepper in the cooked yolks, and use a zip lock bag (place bag over a large mouth container to make it easier to fill
. Then cut the tip off the end and squeeze into your egg white. Not using the correct terms but you get the idea. If nothing else, do the 20 minute cook with the heat turned down and baking soda in the water. It said to turn the heat off but I just turn it down to as low as the burner will go to make sure the water stays hot.
I have always cooked my eggs in boiling water for three (3) minutes for soft-boiled and five (5) minutes for hard-boiled eggs. At 82, I think this method has always worked.
After water is boiling, I put lid on pan then move pan off heat source, then allow the water to come to ambient temp. This allows the heat to move from the pan and into the room - good during heating times. I usually cook eggs a day ahead.
All the boiling methods are great 馃憤. But if you want easy to peel eggs you need to be sure that they are not fresh.
Fresh eggs peel better when they are steamed. Depending on size. About 15 min for large and 20 min for extra large. Plunge them in ice water til they are cold.
I always cook hard cooked eggs in my steamer....20-30 minutes depending on how many eggs I have.
