Planting, Growing, and Caring for Hyacinths

Leave the hyacynths in the pots until the foliage dies back. Carefully lift the bulbs out of the pot and divide the bulbs without braking any roots. Dig holes in the garden about 4-5 inches deep and plant the bulbs about 3 inches apart.
On my hyacinth plant I have 3 very large top heavy flower stems leaning over almost to the table. I have tried rotating them so the flowers lean towards the sun but to no avail. When would be a good time to cut back the flower stem? Thanks so much.
I have several beautiful purple hyacinth growing in a bunch. Is it ok to separate them and transplant them now? We live in New Philadelphia , Ohio. Thanks so much!
You can divide the bulbs now but it is better to wait until the flowers fade and the leaves turn yellow.
I have been told epsom salt help the hyacinth and other plants grow. I put some of the salt on my flower to help it grow. Then I put water on top. Is this going to help my plant grow? I am using Dr. Teal's Pure Epsom Salt. My plant is from Trader Joe's and is 2 dollars. The buds are still green. Also, I would like to know if I can raise this plant inside with lights and just give it water once a day.
I planted 7 different varieties of hyacinth in separate pots last Autumn expecting them to flower at the same time. They didn't, some flowering up to a month later than others, which has somewhat ruined my plans. Is there a way to get them to bloom at the same time or is it something you just have to put up with?
Quick! I have 2 potted hyacinths that I had to put out on the lanai because the fragrance gives my daughter headaches. They are also seriously drooping over. I can't leave them outside in SW Florida. Will they survive if I pull them out by the bulb and put them in a large vase? (then I could keep them in my own bedroom).
The article said to cut the flower stem and let the leaves die naturally. This should work as well in full bloom to ease your daughter's symptoms from them.
You people have to be the most patient people ever, to answer the same questions over and over!! I had many of the same ones, but reading so many variations of my questions and then the many answers you have given has (I think) pretty well imprinted it all on my mind; I had just bought a pot at Walmart and was googling for care tips and did I ever strike gold! Thanks a bunch!!
I love the smell of hyacinths and I want to enjoy it year-round in my indoor small space. Can a potted hyacinth be kept "alive" year round with the use of artificial lights, temperature control and watering indoors? By this I mean the flowers-- can they be kept in bloom year-round so that we can always enjoy the smell? Thanks!
